Sustainability
We are constantly striving, as are many other businesses, to lessen our impact on the planet and its' resources.
We currently recycle our glass bottles and cardboard to ease the burden on landfill.
All our food waste is collected weekly by Devon Contract Waste for composting.
Our daily printed menus are done using recycled paper which is subsequently either recycled again or shredded and then added to our compost heap for use in our vegetable patch. We try and avoid the use of peat based composts and are now hoping that with the aid of a shredder we will not have to buy compost in the future but rely on our own for the garden.
We have a small flock of welsh black mountain sheep to graze our paddocks in the Summer thus reducing the need for mowing. These are sent on in the Autumn and appear on our menu in the form of lamb and mutton.
Where possible we use local, westcountry producers and brewers and are constantly looking for more suppliers, even irregular artisan suppliers, so if you think that your products may be suitable for us please get in touch.
Our lighting in the Inn uses a combination of energy saving and LED bulbs plus movement sensor switching in the toilets and timer switches in other areas.
Recent additions in the kitchen have included the latest energy saving refrigeration technology.
